TEACHER PROFILE

Patty Hadley - 2nd

What a blessing it has been to become part of the St. Mary's family. I can truly feel the spirit of the Lord at work in our halls, children, and other teachers. I have been in Catholic Education since I graduated from college at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. After one year of teaching 5th grade in Kansas, my husband was offered a job here in Bloomington with State Farm. We moved very quickly, and within a few months I was hired as a 2nd grade teacher at Holy Trinity. It was a wonderful experience, and I loved helping children prepare for the sacraments. After the birth of our first daughter, I felt the Lord pulling at my heart strings to stay home and be a full time mom. That was a very hard decision for me, but in hindsight, the right decision. Two more daughters followed, and my days were filled with all that comes with being a mom. All too soon though, my three girls were off to school and there was a hole left. I knew it was time to reenter the classroom. For the past two years I taught at Epiphany across town. I taught 5th grade for half a day, and junior high language arts the other half of the day. It was a big job, but I enjoyed the students there immensely. I was thrilled when Mr. Csanda called me with an opening in 2nd grade. This meant I would be back to a classroom with a bit younger kids, and I would be able to work with students preparing for the sacraments. It really is amazing to watch 2nd graders learn about the beauty of reconciliation and how awe inspiring the Eucharist is. I'm looking forward to a wonderful year, and please know my door is always open if you want to stop by for a jellybean!
