I am originally from Pontiac, Illinois and have enjoyed living in the Bloomington-Normal area since attending Illinois Wesleyan University. I graduated from IWU in 1998 with a degree in Elementary Education and enjoyed teaching first grade in Unit 5 for nine years, both at Oakdale and at Prairieland. During that time, I earned a Masters in Reading from Illinois State University and later taught undergraduate literacy courses at ISU. I also enjoy my work as a provider of professional development through the Regional Office of Education which supports teachers in McLean, Livingston, and DeWitt counties.

This year will begin my thirteenth year of teaching and my third year as the reading resource teacher at St. Mary’s. This fall I look forward to working with St. Mary’s students and teachers in grades K-5. In my opinion, there’s no better job than that of a reading teacher!

When I am not teaching, I enjoy being a mom to three very busy boys, ages 6, 4, and 3. My husband, Jason, is a business teacher and football coach at Normal Community High School. During football season you can usually spot my sons and I in the end zone on a Friday night cheering on the Normal Ironmen!
