I am Nina Sage, the Music Teacher at St. Mary’s School. I teach General Music to Pre K – 5th Grade; 5th grade Beginning Band; 6-8 Grade Band; and Crusader Choir for 5-8 graders.
I was born and raised in Chicago, IL. I grew up on the southeast side of the city, near the Indiana state line, but Bloomington has been my home since 1976. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Pedagogy from Illinois Wesleyan University. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Illinois State University.
I started teaching at St. Mary’s School in August, 2011. Prior to that I taught piano privately, and was a substitute teacher. Subbing in the schools and working with some amazing teachers and children inspired me to pursue a Music Education Degree. When my daughters went away to college I decided to return to college and follow my dream to teach in a school.
Teaching music has always been my passion, whether it be as a private teacher, volunteer church choir director, or a classroom teacher. What a blessing to be able to share this passion with the wonderful students at St. Mary’s. It was the perfect job God had waiting for me! I tell everyone that “St. Mary’s is the sweetest little school in town”, and I am so thankful to be a part of the SMS family!
